On 30 November officers of the Ashmiany customs office examined the personal belongings of the Homel human rights defender Leanid Sudalenka who was returning home from Vilnius. They confiscated from him 10 copies of Instructions for Short-term Observers at Presidential Election of Belarus. The human rights defender considers the confiscation of the manuals illegal and stated it in his complaint to the head of the State Customs Committee, which was filed by him on 1 December.

On 29.10.2010 from 10-00 till 10-45 in Zhodzina court the second court session on the administrative case of Andrey Zubra took place. Andrey was accused according to the art. 22.9 part 2 of Administrative Violations Code of Republic of Belarus of illegal distribution of independent press in Zhodzina. He was supposed to be fined from 20 to 50 basic amounts (700000-1750000 BYR).

The administrations of two Vitsebsk schools #40 and #43 refused to post the election leaflets of Aliaksandr Kuzniatsou, Belarusian Popular Front member, running for the Vitsebsk Regional Council, after the posters were found ‘ruffian-like’. The question was raised because Election code establishes procedure of counting votes by the members of Election Commission but it doesn’t establish a certain way of counting votes and doesn’t establishes the way duties are distributed between members of the commission during such counting.

Once again they ask officials to solve the situation in which their son doesn’t have the opportunity to study in the framework of gymnasium program with English specialization in Belarusian language. They want their son to study in the educational establishment – the only gymnasium in Zhodzina district.

Today, on 24 March Minsk Leninski Court convicted Viasna’s activists Ales Bialiatski, Valiantsin Stefanovich and Iryna Toustsik of violating Article 23.34 of the Civil Code (violation of public event procedures) while staging a picket of protest against the recent execution of death penalties on 23 March in outside the Presidential Administration building in Minsk and fined them BYR 17,500 each.
