Let’s remind that Vasil Paliakou was arrested by law enforcement agencies in the evening of November 8. The trial over Vasil was organized the next day in the Soviet district court of Homiel. The activist was accused of breaking the law “On mass events” when preparing for the People’s Assembly, scheduled for Nov. 12. The judge Kupratsevich awarded Paliakou 5 days of administrative arrest. On 28 March 2011, it was reported that Hronda Regional Prosecutor’s Office initiated criminal proceedings against Andrzej Poczobut, reporter of the Polish Gazeta Wyborcza weekly and leader of the opposition Union of Poles. The journalist faces charges under Par. 1 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code (“insult of the President of the Republic of Belarus”) for eight publications in Gazeta Wyborcza, one article on www.belaruspartizan.org and a post in his personal blog www.poczobut.livejournal.com.

In Salihorsk, workers of the Belaruskalii, and Building Trust #3 receive “directions” for dactilography from the “ideology officers” of theses state enterprises. It’s worth mentioning that these “documents” don’t contain any seals or signatures of competent authorities. Moreover, according to the recently adopted Law On State Dactylographyc Registration, the people who are liable to military service must be directed for dactilography by the military enlistment offices. On 14 March, the 16th session of the UN Human Rights Council adopted a joint statement on the situation in Belarus, which was signed by 45 countries, including all the EU members. At about 11 a.m. on 10 February KGB officers paid a visit to the legal consultation of Aleh Aheyeu, the attorney of the presidential candidate Aliaksei Mikhalevich. they presented an order signed by the Minsk and Minsk Region KGB Department and started looking though the documents that concerned the professional activities of the lawyer. They refused to tell the lawyer within the limits of which process activities the check-up of his documents was conducted and soon went away.
