Biaroza human rights activist Tamara Shchapiotkina and Siarhey Rusetsky and public activist Tatsiana Tarasevich sent a cassation appeal to Brest Regional Court, in which they asked to cancel Beroza district court’s decision and submit a complaint to Biaroza district court to another judge.

The Court approved recalling the permission to picket on March 25 by Biaroza district executive committee.

Judge Alena Niamkova, the representative of the prosecutor in court Aksana Hardzienka and “someone” in the executive committee saw in one of the aims of the picket – statements of protest against Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine – the inciting of ethnic hatred.

According to human rights activists, the court ruled a political decision in their case. The court took into account only one side, denying human rights defenders the petition to conduct a linguistic expertise and not supporting their wish to know the education of a person, who saw extremism in the statements of protest against Russian aggression towards Ukraine.
