Barys Zvozskau was born on February 26, 1949 in Belogorsk (Russia). He graduated from Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute specializing at engineering and Higher international courses on human rights.

Since the 1990s Zvoskau has actively been acting in human rights activities and practical protection in politically motivated trials, he participated in the examination of many bills. Since 1998, he has been engaged in a legal presentation of preventive human rights protection.

Human rights activist worked very hard with journalists and civil society activists in the questions of administrative and criminal proceedings. He made a great contribution to the informing of young people, lawyers, journalists and human rights defenders in questions of human rights. In 2008 he became winner of prize “Human rights activist of the year – 2008”.

From the start Barys Zvoskau was among the initiators and active participants in the process of creating and then development of the Belarusian Human Rights House, from 2007 to 2010 he was president of HRH. On July 31, 2013 a new name was given to Belarusian HRH in Vilnius – Belarusian Human Rights House of Barys Zvoskau.

Human rights activist died in June 2012 after a long and serious illness.
