On September 24 Zhodzina citizens congratulated a well-known Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialiatsky sentenced to 4.5 years of imprisonment on his birthday.

Congratulation postcards were sent from Zhodzina main post office, where the information was spread among its many visitors.

Noticing postcards with Ales Bialiatsky behind bars, people took them, examined them with interest, read them and put back. Some people, having noticed the local human rights activist from “Viasna” Aliaksiey Lapitsky, approached him and asked questions. The result was unique conversations and views exchange about the situation.

Let’s remind that on September 25 the political prisoner and human rights activist, who has spent more than two years behind bars in Bobruisk colony, turns 51. Politically motivated persecution and sentence for the head of de-registered human rights center “Viasna” was submitted on August 4, 2011. From that time he has become a political prisoner, first in the detention center in Minsk, then in prison number 8 of Zhodzina, and then in Bobruisk colony number 2.

The next day, on September 25 postcards with Ales Bialiatsky behind bars and information on arrested human rights activist appeared in some public places of Zhodzina (see photos).
