According to Uladzimir Shyla, a local public activist, deputies must address the issue of prohibition of mass events in the town. Executive committee of Salihorsk didn’t grant another five appeals to hold mass events in Salihorsk.

The events were to be held in late February, but the alleged lack of commitment in written form on organization and holding of mass events the chairman of the executive committee Aliaksandr Rymasheusky didn’t give permission for holding them.

- In general the situation is similar to the previous one. Apparently, in the executive committee a poltergeist appeared who stole my obligations. The secretary assured me that documents don’t disappear from office. It’s just a mysterious thing, – says Uladzimir Shyla. – Now, in every case, when filing new appeals, I now register each separate piece of paper and leave a copy with the signature of the secretary.

The activist filed the three new appeals to conduct a street procession, a picket and a rally in Salihorsk in the middle of March. At the events it is expected to draw attention to the facts of the existence of political prisoners in Belarus, to demand the holding of free elections and protest against the arrogant attitude of ruling power to the law and Constitution. However, Uladzimir Shyla is not hoping to get permission after a few dozen of failures:

- It is obvious that our country a permission to protest is not a legal issue, but a political one. Therefore, the ideologues will be looking for any clues not to give such permission. And if they won’t find any, then they will ban a meeting for no reason. I think it is time for the Council of Deputies of Salihorsk to address the issue of banning picketing in the town. Let them also share the responsibility with Aliaksandr Rymasheusky. Finally, it is the Council which makes decisions, and the executive committee is to carry them out.

According to Uladzimir Shyla, in the near future he will send a special message to Salihorsk deputies demanding to provide a real opportunity to realize the right to freedom of assembly in Salihorsk.
