ЛіставаньніA human rights activist Mikalai Kalinin has addressed the Belarusian Minister of Communications with a request to stop unsealing his personal mail.

Kalinin says he did not receive the letter sent by one of his friends. The letter was posted on 7 December 2008, which was confirmed via e-mail.

Apart from that, he kept receiving unsealed or damaged letter throughout 2008, some of them having been lost by the postal service. Kalinin says the facts are an outrage against human rights and freedoms, including the person’s privacy.

The address we received from Kalinin is an evidence of a shameful tendency that may concern every person engaged in exchanging information. You are free to comment on the issue by visiting our forum, Communicator section.
