Belarusian human rights activists can complain against the actions of Poland and Lithuania on the issue of bank accounts of Ales Bialiatsky.

Valiantsin Stefanovich, the deputy chairman of the Human Rights Centre “Viasna” does not exclude such a possibility. Initially, with the help of local lawyers, the violation of the law when issuing personal data of Ales Bialiatsky and Valiantsin Stefanovich will be appealed to the national courts of Lithuania and Poland:

- Then we can try to appeal to the European Court in Strasbourg, since according to the procedures I, though not a citizen of a country-member of the European Union, when the case concerns a dispute with a country which is member of the European Union and which is member of the European Council and it had violated my rights, I have the right to file a lawsuit against the country to the European Court.

Valiantsin Stefanovich said that what happened – is the abuse of authorities of Lithuania and Poland. As reported earlier by Lithuanian mass media, the request of Belarus for issuing accounts of Ales Bialiatsky and Valiantsin Stefanovich in Lithuania did not contain the necessary information about the criminal case, in regard to which the Belarusian authorities asked their Lithuanian colleagues for help.

Based on data from the Lithuanian Ministry of Justice, the chairman of the Human Rights Centre “Viasna” Ales Bialiatsky was detained on August 4. And Valiantsin Stefanovich does not exclude his detention after his return to Belarus.
